Online Self Dev Book Club
Self-Help, Self-Development and Why I’m Starting a Book Club
I am a bit of a self-help book enthusiast. But I’ve noticed that somewhere along the way, self-help quietly rebranded.
No one really uses that phrase anymore. It’s all self-development now. Growth. Expansion. Becoming your best self. And I’m here for it. Because self-help implies that there's something wrong with you.
Self-development feels empowering. Less about fixing, more about evolving.
But even with the new language, a lot of the pressure remains. Just dressed differently.
So many books still carry an unspoken message that you should be doing more. Healing faster. Understanding yourself better by now. And when life is already full, that can quickly become another thing to feel behind on.
I’m much more interested in growth that creates space rather than urgency.
Real self-development isn’t about upgrading yourself. It’s about understanding yourself. Why do you react the way you do? What shaped you? And what you want to improve, and the tools to help us reach our goals.
Reading can be powerful when it’s done slowly and in conversation. Not as a checklist to follow perfectly, but as something to sit with, question, and take what’s useful from.
That’s why I’m starting an online self-development book club.
This isn’t a “read three chapters a week and transform your life” situation. No pressure. No falling behind. Just thoughtful books, good conversation, and space to reflect and feel like part of a community.
It’s for people who are curious about themselves and a bit tired of hustle-wellness culture. For people who want growth to feel supportive, not demanding. It's also a way to spend time enjoying good conversation with others who enjoy self-discovery and personal growth.
If that sounds like you, you’re very welcome.
